Does hell and heaven really exist ?

I don’t think so…..

Recently, I have been thinking about a lots of situations causing me the so-called “Grass is always greener on other side” syndrome. We humans have never been satisfied with our lives. We always crave for “something much more” or something completely different from our current life. Other’s life always seems much more better and happier. We try our best to live someone else’s life which we feel is the best. But as soon as we reach that milestone, there is another milestone waiting in line to be conquered. There is always another peak higher than the current one. And there is no end to it. One day, there comes an end to our life. There are days when we think our life is completely hell, but our life is a life which someone else craves everyday. We don’t appreciate the value of what we have and always want something more.

Talking about hell or heaven, if someone would ask me what would be the definition of heaven for me, as in what would satisfy me completely that I have no more expectations from life, I cannot describe what would actually do the thing. Even if I describe it, my heaven would be someone’s reality. Similarly talking about hell, the things which I am most dreaded about, might actually be heaven for someone else. I think, defining a universal hell or heaven is not possible. Hence, I doubt it’s possibility of existence.

Even if we ignore that fact, and discuss about the extremes, we would find that no extremes exist in our world. We try to create them, but we are often tackled with situations in which we take the opposite side. There is no universal right or wrong. A wrong deed might look good to some people. A good deed can come across as heinous. I have myself seen situations where I thought, how can someone think of that as a bad thing or vice versa. This is also a reason why there is no end to any debate or a fight in this world. At the end, both parties just reach to a compromise, where both accept some points from other’s bucket.

A great example of this is that, some laws are applicable in one country, but are completely opposite in other. Marijuana is legalised in Canada, but is illegal in India. There are some countries which still do not have democracy and depend on either religious laws or dictatorship to run the country. We cannot say what is right or not. We, being a part of a democracy might feel that this is the best form of government ever, but when during Covid, shit hit the fan, we all wished for a military rule to exist to control the situation. It was a perfect example that there is no universal type of government which we can deem as the best. Situations and type of people require different kinds of laws and regulations to be implemented at a point.

This is even true for people, there is no universal good or bad guy. Me, living in India, is a big supporter of Trudeau, but in the upcoming elections, he currently just has 38% of supporters all across Canada. Similarly, the response of the world for Trump being the President of USA was mostly negative, whereas the country chose him with a big majority and welcomed him with open arms.

If I ask you today, what has been the best day of your life, or what you deem can be the best day of your life, can you answer that ? Or If I ask you a simple question — what is your favourite dish, can you even answer that ? I know the answer is NO. We humans tend to take sides according to a set of various factors which alter our decision. There is never a 100% surety about something. It is all about probability which is the real thing. We tend to chose different paths, different rewards, different dishes, different songs, and different experiences in our life. If we do the same thing a lot, it loses its value and we call it mundane.

All of the above things, make me ponder there is no hell or heaven. Even if there is, I would really like to know, what is in it actually that can keep me satisfied forever. Therefore, I do not fear going to hell, because I believe we get hell and heaven in this life itself, in various ups and downs of our life. Our deeds sure count up, and we pay for all our wrongdoings. But, as we discussed above there is no classification of a wrong deed or bad. Because a monster to you, might be God to someone else. A deed done wrong according to you might be the best possible thing for someone else.

By all of this, I do not mean to say that we should fuck our morals and start creating a mayhem. I just want to convey that if you are doing a good deed, which you think is good, just do it for it, not for any greed to get any reward for that. Be kind to all lives and keep your urges to power/money/fame in check. Make your life, hell of a ride and be sure to make some moments which you will cherish on the death bed…
