Don’t strategize much

Just dive in…..

Since my childhood, I have had a big problem. I strategize about everything. If there is an exam, I would strategize about how to prepare for it in 1 day. After 4 hours, I would again see how would I divide my coming hours for different things to study. This has just helped me waste a lot of time and do nothing.

The best way to achieve anything is actually just doing it. Strategies and plans don’t work out most of the time. The only things that I have accomplished in my life have been the times when I just woke up and started to do it without thinking much about how to do it and figuring it out along the way.

I think this is the place where most of the ideas never come into existence. The most important part, which is “execution”, actually never comes along. Most people just keep contemplating over the billion-dollar idea they have and only a few actually take action and do something with it.

I am a big daydreamer. I don’t know, how many of you can actually relate to it. I think about an idea, and then build a complete story in my mind about how it will get successful and what things I actually will do to make it work and then finally be happy and celebrate over my huge success and I just stay afloat in that for a lot of time. For an instance, today I thought of an idea, got it till IPO, and met Elon Musk after that.

All of this never helps. Those dopamine hits which we think we will get from our successes are actually never that way. The happiness of achieving something is always much less than thinking about the journey which we took to make it happen. So, I have now started fantasizing about the journeys rather than the end result. This helps me stay more focused on executing things.

So, to all those who have not yet started, just start and let the world unravel things for you. And those, who have started and failed, don’t worry, I also have the same experience. You are not alone……
